Hints 'n Tips

A great tip from Judi at Christie Bears:
When deciding where to place the eyes on your nearly finished bruin, sit him in front of a mirror. You will then see if the eyes are even and in the right place. Simple but it does work!
Brigid suggets: A tip for making a very simple needle threader out of invisible thread and piece of masking or strong tape. Threading tiny needles such as quilting or size 12 is much easier with invisible thread I’ve found- what I do (see diagram) is take a short length 10cm or so of invisible thread, double then wrap the tape around free ends. Then thread the small needle and pass the cotton through the threader in the normal way.
Penny says: 'Don't through away all those little scraps of mohair and paw pad material, bag it all up, what ever the sizes and send it into a school or playgroup, it makes great furry bits for any art and craft projects the kids might be doing.

My youngest takes all my bits and pieces in to her school and they always find crafty ways to use it, makes great hair !!!'

Sindie's idea for taming unruly mohair:  If your mohair is misbehaving and laying the wrong way on a head gusset (we all do it) spray with water and comb in the direction you want it to lay. You can then blow dry it on a cool setting. Make sure you dry it thoroughly though!

Ruth suggests: What about a money saving or when you are desperate tip? Use watered down PVA glue if you run out of of fray check. It stays flexible when dry, and if you read the ingredients...it's actually very close to the ingredients of some products made for the purpose.

Sindie's research into the well documented ailment -'Bear-makers Bum'!

My research has a long way to go, however I have discovered some very interesting facts:

1. If you hold your food higher than your mouth, all the calories jump out
before you can consume them.
2. Long, thin foods i.e. chocolate fingers, sausages, Kitkat, Niknak crisps,
spaghetti Bolognese etc maintain their form when consumed so you will
become long and thin too.
3. Ring doughnuts, coconut ring biscuits and bagels have low fat centres so
are okay to eat.
4. Anything with lots of air in it is also low fat i.e. Aero, chocolate
mousse, Wispa etc .
5. Avoid anything round (see no.2) such as apples, tomatoes, ricecakes,
grapefruit, pickled onions etc.
