Hello

My name is Ellen Johns and although I have been designing and making bears for several years, it was not until 2001 that I decided to try my hand at selling my bears to raise some extra cash for a holiday in Florida. And so it was that 'Floridian Bears' was born.

Since 2001, I'm pleased to say that my bears have proved very popular and have been featured in a number of international bear collector magazines.

My bears are 'traditional' in style and are, with few exceptions 'one off' designs. They are usually undressed but often have additional accessories such as a rusty key pendant or an old pin badge. In addition to bears I make cats and rabbits, known as my 'folk art critters'.

I take my inspiration from antiques, textiles, american primitive art and nature and I am always developing my work by adding new items. My work can be viewed on my website at www.floridianbears.co.uk
